Otherwise — Privacy Policy
This policy describes personal data collected when you use the Otherwise mobile app.
1. Data we collect

2. Purposes
- Account creation and verification
- Age gate (13+)
- Alternate scenario generation (core product)
- Notifications when a prediction is ready (with permission)
- Security, abuse prevention, product improvement
- Free-tier ads (Google AdMob; memories and email are not sent to AdMob)
We do not sell your memories to ad networks. In the free tier Google may process device identifiers and advertising data. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland a consent form (UMP) is shown before personalized ads. Change choices in Profile → Data controls → Ad preferences. How Google uses data in ads.
3. AI processing
Content is sent to Anthropic and/or OpenAI APIs. Per those providers’ API policies, data is not used for model training by default.
4. Storage and security
To keep a story's possibilities consistent, we retain its request-time memory/profile copy and story inferences, encrypted for new generations. Later memory edits or deletion do not change that copy. Deleting the story or your account deletes it. Copies and inferences are included in data exports. Inputs for failed, retryable generations are also retained with your account.

5. Guest mode
After 30 days of inactivity, guest accounts and related data are deleted. You may upgrade with Apple or email anytime.
6. Your rights
Access (Profile → Export), rectification, erasure (Delete account), complaints via [email protected] or your supervisory authority.
7. Age
13+. Users under 13 cannot create an account.
